What foods cause weight loss?

I'm trying to shed a few kilos for a wedding coming up. I know diet is key. What foods are good to include that actively cause weight loss, or at least help with it?

For diabetes management and overall health, I focus on foods that are high in fiber and protein, and low in glycemic index. Lots of vegetables, whole grains like ragi or bajra, lean protein sources, and healthy fats. These help you feel full and manage blood sugar, which indirectly supports healthy weight.

Bhai/Behen, koi jaadu nahi hai. Simple si baat hai – eat more vegetables, fruits, dal, roti (whole wheat), and less of the sugary, fried, oily stuff. Drink lots of water. Proteins are good too. Bas, itna hi. No fancy tricks.

My doctor emphasized that it's not about single 'weight loss foods' but a balanced diet in a calorie deficit. Foods high in protein and fiber keep you satiated and boost metabolism. Think lean meats, pulses, eggs, lots of green leafy vegetables, whole grains, and fruits. Avoiding refined sugars and processed foods is paramount.

Honestly, for me, it's been about eating more home-cooked food. Lots of salads, steamed veggies, daal, and keeping the portions sensible. Also, drinking water before meals really helps. And protein! Paneer, sprouts, chicken – they keep me full for longer so I don't snack on unhealthy stuff.

From a practical standpoint, focus on high-volume, low-calorie foods that are nutrient-dense. That means plenty of vegetables like cucumber, tomatoes, leafy greens. Lean protein sources like chicken breast, fish, paneer, and lentils are excellent for satiety. Also, swap sugary drinks for water and minimize processed snacks.

Over the years, I've seen that the best approach is to eat real, whole foods. Foods that are rich in fiber like oats, whole fruits (not juices), and all kinds of vegetables fill you up. Proteins from dal, eggs, and lean meats also help. It's about consistency and making healthy choices daily, not just for a few days.

As a working professional, I need realistic solutions. It's not about magic foods but making smart choices. Prioritize protein and fiber in every meal – think eggs for breakfast, a large salad with chicken or paneer for lunch, and dal-roti with veggies for dinner. This keeps you full and avoids unnecessary snacking. Meal prep helps a lot.
