How to avoid swollen ankles during pregnancy?

My ankles are getting so swollen now that I'm pregnant, especially by evening. It's tough to wear my regular shoes. What can I do to help with this, or even prevent it from getting worse?

Swollen ankles are so common in pregnancy, especially if you have other hormonal imbalances like with PCOS, which can sometimes make symptoms feel more pronounced. Always keep your feet elevated when resting. Staying hydrated by drinking enough water throughout the day can actually help reduce water retention. And definitely check with your gynaecologist, they might suggest compression stockings.

It's tough when your ankles swell. Just try to put your feet up whenever you can and drink lots of water. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh god, I'm so worried about this too! My friend had terrible swollen ankles during her pregnancy. Did anyone else find that eating less salt really helped, or was it mostly about just keeping your feet up? I'm trying to prepare myself! It sounds so uncomfortable.

For swollen ankles, definitely try natural things first if it's mild. Soaking your feet in warm water with some Epsom salts helps some people. Also, gentle foot massages with olive oil. But if the swelling is sudden, very severe, or in your hands/face, please, please see your doctor immediately. That's really important.

Yes, swollen ankles are a very common pregnancy symptom. My practical tips would be: wear comfortable shoes, avoid standing for long periods, keep your feet elevated whenever you sit down, and drink plenty of water. Also, reducing salty foods can make a difference. If it's sudden or very painful, do consult your doctor immediately.

Swollen ankles don't usually need expensive solutions. Focus on simple, free or low-cost habits. Elevating your feet with pillows, drinking lots of water (tap water is fine!), and taking short walks are effective. Don't waste money on fancy foot massages or creams. If your doctor suggests compression stockings, ask about generic brands which are cheaper but effective.
