Why does weight loss plateau then drop?

My fitness instructor mentioned something about weight loss plateaus. He said sometimes you stop losing weight for a bit, and then suddenly it drops again. What causes this kind of pattern, where there's a plateau and then a further drop?

Oh, that plateau phase is such a mental game! I remember feeling so demotivated. But then suddenly, after sticking with it, the numbers would drop. It's like your body is playing tricks on you, but it's a real phenomenon. Just keep going, don't give up hope!

This 'whoosh effect' is something my doctor mentioned when I was working on my weight for BP management. Apparently, your body holds onto water when fat cells shrink, making it look like you're stuck. Then, suddenly, it releases that water. It's all part of the body's complex system; consistency and regular checkups are key.

Yeah, bro, it happens. Your body adjusts to the calorie deficit, so progress slows down. Then, sometimes after you push through or make a small change, it suddenly drops again. It's called the 'whoosh effect' some people say. Just gotta stay consistent.

This pattern is well-documented in weight management. When fat cells deplete their lipid content, they can temporarily fill with water before finally emptying and shrinking. This leads to a plateau, then a sudden drop. It highlights the importance of consistency over short-term fluctuations. For effective and safe weight loss strategies, always consult with a healthcare professional.

OMG, this happened to me last semester! I was working out like crazy and then nothing for weeks. Then suddenly, whoosh, like 2-3 kgs were gone. My friend said it's probably water retention finally letting go. So annoying but then so rewarding!
