Why do women gain weight after pregnancy?

My sister just delivered her baby and she's worried about gaining weight post-pregnancy. I was wondering, why do women gain weight after pregnancy? Is it hormonal or lifestyle related?

It's completely normal for women to gain weight after pregnancy. The body needs time to recover, and hormones are still fluctuating a lot. Eating healthy, light meals, and gentle walks can help. But if it's very persistent or you feel unwell, it's always good to consult a doctor.

Didi, gaining weight after pregnancy is so common, please don't be hard on yourself. Your body has just done an incredible thing! Hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, and focusing on the baby often mean less time for self-care. Be patient and kind to yourself; it takes time to get back on track, and sometimes the body just isn't the same, and that's okay.

It's common, but it can also be a sign of underlying issues, especially if you had complications. After my pregnancy, my weight gain was also due to thyroid issues that flared up. Please don't hesitate to see your doctor for a full check-up if you're concerned. It's better to be safe and get proper medical advice.

Yeah, like, my aunt gained a lot after having her kids. I think it's a mix of hormones, stress, and just not having time to work out or cook proper meals when you have a newborn. Plus, the body retains fat stores for breastfeeding. It seems like a lot to deal with.

My sister just had a baby, and she gained some weight. I guess it's because her body was working overtime making a human, and now she's super busy with the baby. She says she barely sleeps! It seems totally normal, dude.

I've been there! It's a combination of so many things - hormonal shifts, water retention, and the sheer exhaustion of having a newborn leaves little energy for anything else. I tried some light yoga and eating wholesome ghar ka khana, but honestly, patience and self-compassion are the best remedies. Your body needs time to heal.
