When were glp 1 agonists approved for weight loss?

My doctor recently suggested GLP-1 agonists for my weight management. I'm trying to understand more about them, especially when these types of medications were actually approved for weight loss. Just trying to gather information.

For us with PCOS, weight management is often a big struggle, so any new options like GLP-1 agonists sound promising. But it's important to remember these are medicines, not magic solutions. Always discuss thoroughly with your doctor, don't just jump in. Every body is different.

Hmm, these new medicines come out all the time. My mother always said 'new is not always best' but then the doctor knows what he's talking about. For something like weight loss and medicine, best to trust your doctor fully and take their guidance.

These GLP-1 agonists are quite a recent development for weight loss, as far as I know. But whatever it is, when it comes to medication, you should never self-diagnose or self-prescribe. Always get it checked by a doctor for safety, always.

It's natural to be curious about new treatments, especially for something as personal as weight loss. But for such specific medical questions, it's better to get info from a professional. Don't just rely on online chatter, always confirm with your doctor, ok?

Some GLP-1 agonists, like liraglutide (Saxenda) and semaglutide (Wegovy), have received FDA approval for weight management in non-diabetic individuals with obesity or overweight and comorbidities in recent years, starting around 2014 for liraglutide and 2021 for semaglutide. They're not a quick fix though; they work best with lifestyle changes.

Haan, GLP-1 agonists have been around for diabetes for a while, but for weight loss, it's a more recent approval, na? Like, within the last few years only for specific ones. Always good to ask your doctor for the full info. Don't trust everything on Insta.
