When does hiv weight loss begin?

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed and has been losing a lot of weight. He's concerned about it. I was trying to find out more information for him. When does weight loss typically begin in HIV?

I was doing some research on HIV symptoms for a project. From what I read, significant weight loss can be a symptom, but it usually happens in the later stages of HIV, when the immune system is more compromised. It's not typically one of the very first signs people notice.

My doctor, during a health awareness session, explained that unexplained and significant weight loss (known as HIV wasting syndrome) is generally associated with the later, more advanced stages of HIV infection, when the immune system has been severely affected. It's rarely an initial symptom. Early diagnosis and treatment are key for managing the virus effectively.

Weight loss can happen for so many reasons, from stress to intense workouts. With HIV, the 'wasting syndrome' or unexplained weight loss typically occurs in the more advanced stages, as the body struggles with infections. It's not usually an early symptom. If you have concerns, seeing a doc is crucial, just like a coach helps you identify issues.

This question makes me anxious because weight loss can be a symptom of so many things. But for HIV, I heard it's usually much later, right? Like, not something you'd see immediately. Did others hear the same, or am I mistaken?

Yaar, HIV se weight loss? Actually, that's more of a sign of advanced stages when the body is really struggling. Initial symptoms are usually more flu-like. If anyone's worried, just get tested, it's the only way to know for sure.

Listen, weight loss associated with HIV, especially the 'wasting' kind, typically happens in the later stages of the infection when the immune system is weak. It's not a primary or early symptom. If you have concerns about HIV, the only sensible thing is to get tested. Don't panic, just act responsibly.
