What percentage of weight loss is diet?

I'm trying to lose weight, and everyone keeps telling me 'diet is everything'. I work out regularly, but it feels like my diet is the bigger battle. What percentage of weight loss really comes from diet?

Beta, when I was younger, we didn't have all these fancy terms. It was simple: eat less, move more. Diet plays a huge role, maybe 70-80% I would say. Exercise helps, but you can't outrun a bad diet, I learned that the hard way.

Haha, I wish I could just do some squats and eat a pizza! But nope, my weighing scale tells me it's mostly about what goes INTO my mouth. So yeah, diet is like 80% of the battle, if not more. My gym trainer would agree, probably while silently judging my last cheat meal!

I totally get why you're asking this, it's confusing with all the different advice out there. But generally, diet is considered to be the most significant factor, often cited as 70-80% for weight loss. It's harder to burn off calories than to simply not eat them.

Diet is practically free to control, unlike gym memberships or fancy supplements. Eating home-cooked, balanced meals is the most cost-effective and impactful way to lose weight. Don't waste money on quick fixes; focus on your kitchen.

Bete, hamaare zamane mein toh bas ghar ka khana aur mehnat thi. Diet ka matlab yahi tha ki kam khao, saaf khao. Wazan kam karne mein khana hi sabse zyada important hai, bahut log bolte hain ki 70-80% toh khane se hi hota hai. Thodi walking bhi karo, achha lagega.

While I advocate for regular exercise, I'll be the first to admit that diet is probably 70-80% of the weight loss equation. You can't out-train a bad diet, simple as that. Exercise supports overall health and muscle building, but for shedding kilos, control your intake first.
