What is unexplained weight loss?

My uncle has been losing weight recently, and he hasn't changed his diet or exercise. His family is concerned. What is 'unexplained weight loss' and what could be the reasons behind it?

Oh, is that like, if you lose a lot of weight but you haven't been dieting or exercising more? I always thought weight loss was good, but this sounds serious. How much weight loss is considered 'unexplained' before you should worry?

I once lost about 4-5 kgs in a couple of months and couldn't figure out why. It made me quite worried. My doctor ran some tests, and it turned out to be nothing serious, just stress affecting my appetite. But yeah, if it's significant and you have no idea why, it's something to investigate.

Unexplained weight loss often means a bunch of tests might be needed, which can add up financially. If you're experiencing it, please see a doctor. It's better to invest in early diagnosis than face bigger costs later. Always factor in potential medical expenses, especially for diagnostics.

Unexplained weight loss? Sounds like my dream, except it's usually a bad sign. Probably my body just forgetting how to hold onto stress weight. 😂 Seriously though, if you're losing weight and not trying, it's definitely a 'see-the-doctor' situation, don't ignore it like I ignore my alarm.

From a fitness perspective, weight loss usually comes from a calorie deficit or increased activity. If you're losing weight without intentionally changing your diet or exercise, that's 'unexplained.' It's not something to be happy about, as it could indicate an underlying issue that needs medical attention. Better check with a doctor to be safe.
