What is unexpected weight loss?

My mother has started losing weight without trying, and quite a bit in the last few months. We're getting worried. What is 'unexpected weight loss' and when should we be concerned?

Unexpected weight loss is when you lose a good amount of weight without trying, like without dieting or increasing exercise. It can be quite concerning. I remember when my sister had it, we tried all sorts of home remedies to boost her appetite but ultimately, the doctor helped find the root cause. Don't ignore it.

Is it like, if you suddenly lose 5-10 kgs in a few months without changing anything? I've heard sometimes it can be a sign of something serious. What kind of symptoms usually come with it? Just trying to understand.

Haan ji, unexpected weight loss matlab jab bina koi effort ke, apna weight kam hone lage. Like, tum dieting bhi nahi kar rahe aur gym bhi nahi ja rahe, phir bhi weight gir raha hai. That's a red flag, na? Better to get it checked by a doc, don't take tension.

In yoga, we learn to be aware of our body's subtle changes. Unexpected weight loss is a strong signal that something within is imbalanced. It's not always serious, but it's the body's way of asking for attention. Listen to it, perhaps consult a doctor to understand the internal shift.

I freaked out once thinking I had unexpected weight loss, turns out I was just super stressed and forgot to eat properly for a while. 😂 But generally, it means losing weight without trying, and a noticeable amount. If it's a significant drop and you can't explain it, then definitely see a doctor to rule out anything serious. Sometimes it's normal, sometimes not, best to check.
