Honestly, the treadmill or a simple spin bike is best, but any machine only works if you use it consistently.
I am planning to buy an elliptical machine for home because my knees hurt on the treadmill, but I'm so scared it will just end up as a clothes hanger. Has anyone else bought a big cardio machine and actually managed to stay motivated to lose weight with it?
No machine will lose weight for you if your diet isn't in a calorie deficit. That said, the rowing machine is incredible because it works both your upper and lower body while burning serious calories. Pair that with a clean home-cooked diet and you'll see great progress.
With my high blood pressure, the doctor strictly told me to avoid heavy lifting machines and focus on steady cardio. I use the stationary cycle for 30 minutes daily and it has helped with my weight and keeping my BP numbers stable. Make sure you get your heart and BP checked before starting any intense machine workouts.
I totally get it, trying to figure out which gym machine will give the fastest results can be so overwhelming. Honestly, the treadmill is great for burning calories, but please don't pressure yourself too much. Just pick whatever feels comfortable for your body and start slow.
My uncle used to say that climbing stairs is the best natural exercise, but my orthopaedic doctor advised against it due to my mild knee wear. He suggested using a recumbent exercise bike instead because it supports the back while helping burn calories. I think it is always best to ask your doctor what suits your body structure.
At 50, my favourite weight loss machine is the one where I walk out of the kitchen and lock the fridge! But jokes aside, a simple stationary exercise bike is very safe and comfortable for middle-aged joints. My knees cannot handle treadmills anymore, so cycling is my go-to now.

Yaar, treadmill best hai agar running ka shauk hai, par monotonous ho jata hai na. Personally, cross-trainer use karta hoon kyunki pure body ka workout ho jata hai aur ghutno pe zyada load bhi nahi padta. Haan, par diet control karna sabse zaroori hai!
I can only speak from my own experience, but buying a cross-trainer (elliptical) worked best for me because it was very low-impact on my joints. I used to do 40 minutes on it while watching TV and lost around 8 kgs over a few months, alongside eating simpler meals.
Listen, don't spend lakhs on fancy gym machines thinking they have some magic. A simple pair of running shoes and a daily 5 km brisk walk outside is more than enough to lose weight if your food intake is under control. Save your money and just start moving.
