What is considered unexplained weight loss?

I've been losing weight without really trying to, and some friends are telling me to get it checked. What is generally considered 'unexplained weight loss' that might be a cause for concern? I haven't changed my diet or exercise much.

It can be really scary when you see the numbers on the scale going down and you don't know why. Unexplained weight loss is usually when you lose a significant amount of weight without any changes to your food or workouts. Please don't panic, but do get a doctor's opinion.

When my teenager started losing weight unexpectedly, it was a major concern for us. Unexplained weight loss means dropping weight without any lifestyle changes, so please take them to a doctor to find the root cause.

At Apollo Hospital, the doctor told me that losing more than 5% of your body weight within six months without trying is unexplained weight loss. Please consult a specialist clearly to run some routine tests.

If you are eating your normal vegetarian meals and still losing weight, that is considered unexplained weight loss. It can be due to thyroid issues or absorption problems, so please consult a physician.
