What happens to your body when you sleep?

I often feel completely refreshed after a good night's sleep, but sometimes I wake up groggy even after sleeping for many hours. I'm curious to know what happens to your body when you sleep? What are the key things going on that make us feel rested?

Actually, a lot happens. Your body releases growth hormones, repairs tissues, and consolidates memories. It's a critical period for both physical and mental restoration. If you have specific concerns about your sleep, consulting a doctor or sleep specialist is always the best approach.

When you sleep, your body basically goes into repair mode. Cells regenerate, muscles relax, and your brain processes all the day's info. It's essential for everything from immunity to mood. No sleep, no proper function.

My son used to have sleep issues, and the pediatrician explained it really well. When we sleep, our bodies do all the important maintenance work – like fixing damaged cells and building new ones. It's also when our minds recharge and sort out all the thoughts from the day. So, a good night's sleep is super important for kids and adults alike!

From a yogic perspective, sleep is deep meditation for the body and mind. It's when your prana, your life force, can freely heal and restore. Your breath becomes slower, deeper, allowing the nervous system to calm down. I find a short pranayama before bed really helps this process.

I used to think sleeping less meant more work done, but that was a huge mistake. My health really went downhill. Now I know that during sleep, your immune system strengthens, and your heart and blood vessels get a much-needed break. Don't ignore sleep problems, please get them checked out.

Honestly, I just recovered from a period of bad sleep. I felt so tired all the time. When you sleep, your brain literally cleans out waste products, and your hormones get balanced. My energy levels are so much better now that I'm sleeping 7-8 hours. It's like a full system reboot.
