What do tattoos look like after weight loss?

I'm planning to get a tattoo soon, but I'm also on a weight loss journey and hoping to lose quite a bit more. I'm worried about how the tattoo might look once my body changes. Will tattoos get distorted or saggy after weight loss?

They usually look tighter and more defined, though they can sometimes shift slightly in position. If you pair your weight loss with targeted muscle-building exercises, it helps keep the skin firm and prevents the design from looking distorted.

Well, my butterfly tattoo looked more like a moth after I lost 12 kilos! Jokes aside, they mostly just shrink a bit and look a little more compact, but unless you lose a massive amount of weight very fast, they won't look totally ruined.

When I lost 18kg, the tattoo on my thigh actually held up really well. It just looks a bit smaller and the colors actually look slightly more concentrated and brighter now that the skin isn't stretched out anymore.

Depending on the location, the skin shrinkage might make the lines look closer together or slightly warped. If you notice any skin irritation, changes in the ink texture, or infections in the tattooed area during rapid weight loss, please consult a skin specialist immediately.

They just become a little smaller and tighter as your body gets thin. If the weight is lost slowly and naturally, the ink design stays looking very nice and doesn't stretch or look bad at all, so don't worry.
