What can you eat on a kidney diet?

My father was recently diagnosed with kidney issues, and the doctor told him to follow a strict kidney diet. We're not sure exactly what foods are allowed and what he needs to avoid completely. Any guidance would be helpful.

Listen, kidney diet is not a 'one size fits all'. It depends on the stage of kidney disease. But typically, you'll be told to limit sodium, potassium, and phosphorus. This means avoiding processed foods, certain fruits (like bananas, oranges), and many dairy products or nuts. You'll eat more fresh veggies, specific fruits, and controlled portions of protein. Get a proper diet chart from a nephrologist or renal dietitian.

A kidney diet is quite specific, so it's vital to follow a doctor or dietitian's plan. Generally, you'd focus on low sodium, low phosphorus, and low potassium foods. Lean proteins are important, but in controlled portions. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but you need to know which ones are high in potassium. And good hydration is key! Remember, proper nutrition supports your activity, but always listen to medical advice first.

Kidney diets are very specific and require careful management, similar to how PCOS needs tailored approaches. It's not about cutting everything out but about controlling certain nutrients. You'll likely need to limit sodium, potassium, and phosphorus. This means carefully choosing fruits, vegetables, and proteins. It's really important to consult a nephrologist and a renal dietitian for a personalized plan, as a wrong diet can worsen kidney function.

I'm not very familiar with kidney diets. So it's mostly about low sodium, potassium, and phosphorus, right? Does that mean fruits like apples and berries are generally okay, but bananas are not? And what about dairy, is that usually restricted too?

Achha, kidney diet matlab bahut halke phulke khane. Doctor aur diet-wala hi achhe se batayega. Par generally, namak kam karna padta hai, aur kuch sabziyan jaise tamatar, palak bhi kam khani hoti hain. Phalke, dal aur aisi cheezein hoti hain jo control mein khani padti hain. Paani bhi kitna peena hai, woh bhi doc hi batayenge. Thoda mushkil hota hai par sehat ke liye zaroori hai.
