What antipsychotics cause weight loss?

A family member is going through treatment for a mental health condition and has put on quite a bit of weight with the medication. We're looking into other options. Are there any antipsychotics that are known to cause weight loss, or at least not cause weight gain?

Antipsychotics like Aripiprazole or Ziprasidone are generally considered more weight-neutral, and some people might experience mild weight loss on them. I always worry so much about metabolic side effects, so please make sure to discuss your metabolic health thoroughly with your psychiatrist.

I used to panic constantly thinking these strong medications would completely ruin my physical health, but my doctor switched me to a weight-neutral option like Aripiprazole. It was a very smooth transition and my weight remained perfectly normal. Try not to stress, you will be fine.

Medicines like Ziprasidone and Aripiprazole are known to have a much lower risk of weight gain compared to older antipsychotics, and occasionally help with weight stabilization. It is always practical to discuss your metabolic profile with your doctor before starting any long-term therapy.

Aripiprazole jaisi dawaiyon se zyada wazan nahi badhta hai aur sharir theek rehta hai. Aap dhyan se doctor babu se baat kijiye, woh aapke liye sabse acchi aur halki dawa likh denge. Bilkul pareshan mat hoiye.

I completely validate how stressful it is to think about physical changes like weight gain while starting a major treatment. Aripiprazole and Lurasidone are often chosen because they are much gentler on your weight. Take it easy, share your anxiety with your doctor, and they will help you feel safe.
