Is weightlifting good for weight loss?

My friends at the gym are always talking about how weightlifting is the best way to lose weight. I've been doing a lot of cardio but not seeing much change, so I'm wondering if I should switch things up. Is weightlifting actually effective for weight loss?

Actually I am also planning to start lifting weights for weight loss but I am slightly scared. Does it make your body look bulky or broad initially? I really want to know if anyone else felt this fear before starting out.

For weight loss, eating home-cooked meals and doing light exercises is the best natural way. Weightlifting can help shape your body, but start with light bottles or simple bodyweight exercises first. Just make sure you don't push through bad pain; if you feel sudden chest pressure or severe back pain, stop immediately and visit a hospital.

Lifting is great but please get a basic health checkup done before lifting heavy weights. Years ago I ignored mild joint stiffness and jumped straight into heavy squats which messed up my knee badly. Don't repeat my mistake, get your joints and heart health cleared by a doctor first.

Honestly, weightlifting is awesome because building muscle helps you burn calories even while sitting on the couch. But remember, you can't out-train a bad diet. I lift weights three times a week so I can enjoy my weekend butter chicken without feeling too guilty.

Yes, it is definitely very effective for fat loss. Just take it slow and don't compare yourself to others in the gym. You will do great, just be consistent.
