I have tried both. Running burns calories faster, but it is much harder to sustain daily without injuring your knees or shins. Brisk walking for 45-60 minutes daily, combined with a clean diet, is far more realistic and gave me long-term weight loss.
When I visited the health clinic at Manipal Hospital, the doctor advised me to start with brisk walking first. Running can put too much load on your joints if you are overweight. It is always better to ask your doctor what is safe for your body frame.
Both have benefits, but running carries a higher risk of joint injury and cardiovascular strain if you are not accustomed to it. Before starting any high-intensity running program, please get a basic cardiac and joint checkup done to ensure it is safe for you.
Our bodies are built for walking, which is natural and safe for a long life. Running can wear out the knees prematurely. Walk briskly daily, eat simple satvik food, and drink warm water. This is the time-tested way to keep weight in check.

Do not stress your body with heavy running if it feels like a punishment. Walking calmly and peacefully in the fresh morning air is a beautiful way to lose weight and find mental peace. Take care of your health with joy, not pressure.
