Is walking good for swollen feet during pregnancy?

I'm in my third trimester, and my feet are swelling up quite a bit by evening. My mom suggested I try to walk a little every day to help with circulation. Will walking actually reduce the swelling or is it just an old wives' tale?

Yes, gentle walking helps contract the calf muscles, which acts like a pump to push fluids back up from your feet. Just keep it low-intensity, stay well hydrated, and avoid walking in hot weather.

Haan na, swollen feet can be so uncomfortable during the third trimester. Walking slowly for 15-20 minutes really helps improve circulation. Just make sure to put your feet up on a pillow after you come back.

Yes, gentle walking is really helpful for blood circulation. Just don't push yourself and take plenty of rest.

I have seen many young mothers deal with this. Gentle walking is indeed very helpful to reduce fluid retention, but never stand in one place for long. If the swelling is very sudden or accompanied by a headache, please contact your gynecologist immediately.

I got so scared when my feet swelled up during my pregnancy and worried if it was something serious. Walking slowly did help, but I kept checking my feet every five minutes. If you feel any sudden dizziness or if the swelling is only in one leg, please call your doctor right away for peace of mind.

Walking is a free and healthy way to manage swelling without spending on expensive foot massagers. However, do monitor your blood pressure regularly as sudden swelling can sometimes indicate high BP. Basic BP checks are very cheap and crucial during pregnancy.

During my pregnancy, walking slowly in the evenings really helped reduce the puffiness in my ankles. I also avoided sitting with my legs crossed. It worked well for me, but definitely check with your gynecologist during your routine scan visit.

Along with gentle walking to keep blood flowing, you must reduce your salt intake slightly. Avoid processed snacks and pickles, and drink plenty of warm water. A clean, low-sodium home-cooked diet works wonders alongside mild exercise.
