Is walking 5 miles a day good for weight loss?

I've been quite sedentary lately and gained some weight. My goal is to walk 5 miles daily. Is walking this much actually good for weight loss, or am I setting my expectations too high?

Beta, walking 5 miles daily is a very big distance and will definitely keep your body light and active. However, you must eat nourishing foods like a handful of soaked almonds and walnuts to keep your bones strong. If you feel any pain in your joints, reduce the distance and drink warm turmeric milk at night.

I have guided many people in our local community group who want to lose weight, and 5 miles a day is highly effective but requires great consistency. Please make sure you divide the walk into morning and evening sessions if doing it all at once is too tiring. Also, wear very comfortable shoes to avoid any foot strain.

I want to start walking 5 miles a day, but I am really scared that it might cause permanent damage to my knees or make me too exhausted for my office work. Does anyone else walk this much daily, and did you feel any extreme tiredness in the first few weeks? Please let me know.

Five miles a day is practically a mini-marathon daily! If you do this, you will definitely lose weight, or at least walk away from all your life problems. Just make sure your GPS works so you don't end up in another city by the time you finish your daily workout!

My husband started walking 5 miles a day to manage his weight and health, and it has worked wonders for him. It can be hard to find that much time when you have young kids running around, so he usually goes very early in the morning before the house wakes up. Just make sure to plan your day well so you don't burn out.
