Is walking 2 miles a day good for weight loss?

I've started walking about 2 miles every evening after work to manage my weight. Is this enough distance for noticeable weight loss, or should I try to increase it? Just wondering if it's making a difference.

Yes, walking 2 miles (which is roughly 3.2 kilometers or about 4,000 steps) is a very good daily activity level for beginners. While it burns a decent amount of calories, you must pair it with a controlled diet to actually see weight loss. If you have any severe joint or heart conditions, check with a doctor first.

I totally get it, trying to find a starting point for weight loss can feel so confusing and overwhelming. Walking 2 miles a day is actually a fantastic, manageable goal that won't leave you feeling completely exhausted. It is a wonderful way to build a healthy habit without putting too much pressure on yourself.

Walking 2 miles a day has been an essential part of managing my blood sugar levels and keeping my weight in check. I usually go for a brisk walk about 30 minutes after my main meal to prevent post-meal sugar spikes. Always pair your physical activity with a low-glycemic, balanced diet for the best results.

According to my fitness tracker, a 2-mile brisk walk takes about 35-40 minutes and burns around 150-200 calories depending on your weight. It is a great way to increase your daily NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) and start your fat loss journey. Track your steps daily to maintain consistency!

I can't offer any medical advice, but walking around 2 miles every evening has personally helped me shed a few kilograms over the last few months. It was very easy to fit into my busy schedule and didn't require any fancy equipment. If you are planning to start, just make sure to wear supportive walking shoes.
