Is vitamin'd safe during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and my doctor told me my Vitamin D levels are a bit low. She suggested a supplement, but I always get nervous about taking anything new while pregnant. Is Vitamin D generally considered safe during pregnancy?

My wife is currently in her second trimester and her gynecologist literally put her on Vitamin D from day one. She said it's super important for the baby's bone development. It's totally safe, but definitely don't buy random over-the-counter tablets without checking with your doctor first.

I can only share what happened during my own pregnancy last year. My doctor tested my levels, found I was quite deficient, and prescribed a specific weekly supplement which I took till my delivery. I didn't face any issues, but since every pregnancy is different, please confirm with your own ob-gyn.

Actually, it's very safe and highly recommended, yaar. Almost every pregnant woman I know in Mumbai has been prescribed Vitamin D and calcium. Just don't stress about it, call your doc and they will write down the exact brand and strength for you.

Safe? It is basically a VIP guest during pregnancy! The baby needs it to build their tiny skeleton, otherwise they will steal all of yours. Just let your doctor do the math on the dosage so you don't end up taking too much.

When I was consulting at Columbia Asia, they did a full maternal panel and Vitamin D was a major focus. It is absolutely crucial for your health and the baby's development, but you must ask your obstetrician for the correct dosage. Please don't take any supplement blindly during this sensitive time.
