Is victoza approved for weight loss?

A friend mentioned this medicine Victoza in passing when we were talking about weight. I know it's for diabetes, but I heard some people use it for losing weight too. Is Victoza approved for weight loss, or is that just a side effect?

Please be very careful with these heavy medications, dear. Victoza is primarily approved for managing type 2 diabetes, not specifically for weight loss, though weight loss can be a side effect. It is a serious drug, so please don't take it unless a specialist prescribes it.

I can only share what my uncle went through; his doctor prescribed Victoza for his diabetes, and he did lose some weight. But he had to do regular blood checks and experienced some nausea initially.

You really shouldn't take such prescription injections without a proper consultation. Please visit an endocrinologist to see if it is safe for your body, as these medicines can affect your thyroid and pancreas.

These modern injections sound very tempting for quick weight loss, but they come with many side effects. My experience is that a disciplined diet of millets, hot water, and portion control is much safer and more sustainable in the long run.

As someone working in healthcare, I should clarify that Victoza contains liraglutide, which is approved for Type 2 diabetes. While its sister brand is used for weight management, you absolutely need a doctor's prescription and monitoring to use either.

Bhai, these expensive english injections are not meant for normal weight loss. It is better to eat home-cooked simple food and do some physical work daily, that is the safest way to stay healthy.

I agree with the caution here. Victoza is a diabetes drug, while a different brand name (Saxenda) has the actual approval for weight loss.
