Is the elliptical good for weight loss?

I've started working out at home and have access to an elliptical. I want to lose weight, so I'm wondering if this machine is actually good for that purpose. Any tips would be helpful.

Haan ji, elliptical toh bahut achha hota hai. Hamare yahan bhi kuch log use karte hain. It makes you sweat and move your whole body, but it's not too hard on the knees like running. If you do it regularly, it will surely help you lose weight. Just be steady and don't give up.
