Is sushi bad for weight loss?

I'm trying to lose some weight for my sister's wedding next year and someone suggested cutting out all rice. But I love sushi, especially the vegetarian kind. Is it actually bad for weight loss, or can I still have it sometimes?

For diabetes management, I always look at the carb count, especially with rice. Sushi often has a lot of seasoned rice, which can spike blood sugar. Better to check the exact ingredients if you're watching weight and sugar.

Honestly, when I was trying to lose weight, I found sushi could be tricky. Some rolls are super healthy with lots of fish and veggies, but others have fried stuff or mayo which adds a lot of calories. So it depends on what you pick, I guess.

Beta, everything in moderation is the key, no? When we were young, these fancy foods were not there, but now many options. If you eat a little bit sometimes, not a big problem. Just make sure it is fresh and not too much heavy sauces.

My mother always says to eat home-cooked food for weight loss, but sometimes we want to try new things. For sushi, I think it's important to pick the right kind, like sashimi or rolls with lots of fish and less rice. Always consult a doctor or a dietitian for proper guidance though.

Oh god, I've been wondering the same thing! I love sushi but then I feel so guilty after eating it, thinking I've ruined my diet. Does anyone else feel like the rice quantity is just too much sometimes for weight loss?

It really depends on the type of sushi. The traditional simple rolls with fish and minimal rice can be okay. But many modern rolls have tempura, creamy sauces, or a lot of sugar in the rice seasoning which can definitely work against weight loss goals. Portion control is super important here.
