Is soy sauce good for weight loss?

I'm trying to lose some weight and focusing on healthier eating. I like adding soy sauce to my salads and stir-fries for flavour. Does anyone know if soy sauce is good for weight loss, or should I be careful with it?

I totally get it, trying to find low-calorie ways to make diet food taste good is so hard. Soy sauce is very low in calories, so it can make boring boiled veggies taste amazing without adding fat. Just watch the salt content because too much sodium can cause temporary water weight gain.

As someone who tracks their vegetarian diet very closely, I use soy sauce to flavor my tofu and broccoli stir-fries. It has almost zero fat and very few carbs, making it a safe choice for a weight loss diet. Just be mindful of the high sodium, which can make you feel bloated the next morning.

Honestly, soy sauce is a lifesaver when you are trying to eat clean but craving something savory. A quick splash over sautéed mushrooms or paneer satisfies that Chinese craving with barely any calories. Just don't go drinking the whole bottle, the salt level will make you super thirsty!

I used to put soy sauce on almost everything to keep my diet meals flavorful during my weight loss phase. Unfortunately, the high sodium levels contributed to a sudden spike in my blood pressure, which led to other health issues. Please consult a doctor or clinical dietician before making major dietary adjustments.

With my PCOS, I have to be very careful with processed foods and soy. While a little soy sauce won't hurt your weight loss efforts directly, high sodium can sometimes worsen water retention which is already an issue for many of us. I'd suggest using it in moderation and not relying on it daily.

I always prefer using simple home ingredients like lemon juice, black pepper, and roasted cumin to flavor my food instead of processed sauces. While soy sauce is low in calories, the high sodium is not great for long-term health. If you are experiencing sudden weight gain or swelling, please see a doctor instead of self-managing.
