Is soup good for weight loss?

I'm trying to reduce my calorie intake and a friend suggested having soup as a meal. Is soup good for weight loss, or should I be wary of certain types? I want to make sure it's filling enough.

If it is a creamy, buttery mushroom soup, then definitely not! But a light tomato or clear vegetable soup before dinner actually helps me cut down my main course cravings, which is a total win for my weight loss goals.

Drinking warm vegetable soup with black pepper and ginger helps clear digestion and cuts fat. But please remember, if you have sudden unexplained weight gain or fatigue, check with a doctor to rule out thyroid issues instead of just dieting.

Don't fall for those extreme 'soup-only' diets you see online; they are highly unsustainable and make you lose muscle, not fat. It is best to consult a registered dietitian to plan a balanced weight loss menu.

Clear soups are incredibly low in calories and can be a great tool to stay in a deficit. However, long-term weight management is complex, so getting customized advice from a certified clinical nutritionist or your doctor is always the best approach.
