Is robitussin safe in pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and have a terrible cough that's keeping me up at night. I have some Robitussin in the medicine cabinet. Is Robitussin considered safe to take while pregnant, or should I consult my doctor first?

When I was pregnant, my doctor advised against almost all over-the-counter cold and cough medicines, including things like Robitussin, unless specifically prescribed. It's really best to stick to home remedies like honey and warm water, or ask your gynaec for a pregnancy-safe alternative.

No, absolutely do not take Robitussin or any other OTC medicine during pregnancy without consulting your gynecologist. Period. They will tell you what's safe or prescribe alternatives. Don't self-medicate, it's too risky.

Beta, for medicines during pregnancy, always go to the doctor. In our times too, this was the rule. It's not worth taking a chance with the baby. Robitussin, any medicine, get proper advice. Don't worry, just follow your doctor's instructions.

My sister was pregnant recently and she was told to avoid like almost everything! So I'm guessing Robitussin is probably on the no-go list too. Better to just ask your doctor directly, yaar.

Robitussin during pregnancy? My wife once asked her doctor about a headache tablet and he gave her a whole lecture! 😂 The moral of the story is, even for a tiny cough syrup, ALWAYS ask your gynaec. These days they have a list for everything.

During pregnancy, I'd rather stick to safe cravings than take any medication I'm not 100% sure about! For a cough, I'd try ginger tea or honey. But for anything like Robitussin, definitely check with your doctor. Your tastebuds and baby will thank you!
