Is oxtail good for weight loss?

I'm trying to lose some weight, and my cousin suggested including oxtail in my diet for protein. But I'm not sure if it's healthy. Is oxtail actually good for weight loss, or is it too fatty?

Honestly, oxtail is quite expensive in India and has too much fat, which might not fit your daily budget or calorie goals. Better to invest that money in local lean cuts of chicken or even simple paneer and eggs. I always plan my meals around cheap protein sources so I can save up for my regular health checkups and blood tests.

It is very high in fat and gelatin, so it might not be the best choice if you are strictly trying to cut calories. For natural weight loss, stick to lighter homemade soups with plenty of bottle gourd and simple dal water. But please consult your doctor first if your weight gain is sudden or due to hormonal issues.

I was also thinking of trying oxtail soup for my diet but then got scared looking at the heavy fat layer on top. Did anyone else here feel that their digestion slowed down after having such heavy meat? I really don't want to mess up my stomach while trying to lose weight.

Oxtail has a lot of bone marrow and collagen, which is great for joints, but it is too calorie-dense for weight loss. If you really want to eat it, trim all the visible fat before cooking and keep the portion small. For active weight loss, lighter proteins are much easier on your system.

Actually, I am very new to dieting and have never tried oxtail before. Is it easily available in local Indian markets, or do we have to order it online? If anyone has a simple, low-fat way of cooking it, please do share.
