Is omeprazole safe in pregnancy?

Having a tough time with acid reflux, and I'm pregnant. My gynaecologist said omeprazole is usually okay, but I like to do my own research too. Can anyone confirm if omeprazole is truly safe in pregnancy?

Omeprazole is categorized as relatively safe and is commonly prescribed for severe reflux in pregnant women. However, we always suggest trying simple lifestyle adjustments first. Definitely consult your obstetrician before taking any dose.

Having dealt with hormonal issues, I am always very cautious about taking any medications. During pregnancy, everything needs extra care. Please don't take it over the counter; let your doctor decide if you really need it.

Listen, don't stress too much about the heartburn, it is extremely common. Many of my friends took omeprazole under their doctor's guidance and had perfectly healthy babies. Just talk to your doctor and they will help you out!

It is usually considered safe by doctors for pregnancy acidity. Try not to worry, just have a quick discussion with your doctor and follow their instructions.

For mild acidity, try drinking a little cold milk or chewing fennel seeds (saunf) after eating. If the burning is too severe and you need omeprazole, please visit your doctor. Do not take any English medicines without their advice.

Yes, it is generally safe and widely used, but self-medication during pregnancy is an absolute no. Get your gynecologist to write down the exact brand and dosage. Don't rely on old packs lying around the house.
