Is omeprazole safe during pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester and dealing with really bad heartburn. My doctor mentioned omeprazole as an option, but I'm quite anxious about taking any medicine during pregnancy. Is omeprazole generally considered safe when pregnant?

I am in my first trimester and experiencing terrible heartburn, so I was wondering about this too. Is it safe to take in the early weeks, or should we wait? I will ask my gynecologist, but wanted to know what others were told.

Yes, many gynecologists prescribe it during pregnancy for severe acidity when lifestyle changes don't work. Just make sure you never self-medicate.

Pregnancy heartburn is no joke, feels like you swallowed a volcano! Omeprazole is generally considered safe, but don't go popping pills on your own. Let your gynecologist be the captain of the ship and prescribe it.

My elder sister had crazy acidity during her pregnancy and her doctor gave her omeprazole. She was totally fine and the baby is super healthy now. Just clear it with your gynaecologist first.

I was prescribed this last week but I am so scared to take any pills right now. Did anyone else take it during their second trimester without any issues? I just want to make sure it is completely safe for the baby.
