Natto is fermented soybean, so it is packed with protein, fiber, and probiotics which are excellent for digestion and keeping you full. It can definitely support weight loss as a healthy food choice. Just be prepared for its very strong smell and sticky texture if you are trying it for the first time.

My physician explained that the fermentation process in natto creates nattokinase and high amounts of vitamin K2, which are great for cardiovascular health and metabolism. However, because vitamin K2 helps with blood clotting, he strictly warned me not to consume it regularly if I am on any blood-thinning medications.

In our family, we rely on fermented food like idli batter for good gut health. Natto is also a fermented food with similar benefits for digestion, which helps with metabolism. Still, for any major diet change for weight loss, it is always wise to consult your doctor or nutritionist.

Please be cautious if you have thyroid issues or soy allergies. I tried incorporating soy-based fermented foods like natto into my diet and ended up with severe bloating and hormonal imbalance. It is always safer to see a doctor before making drastic dietary changes.

I have seen so many foreign superfood trends come and go over my life. To lose weight safely, nothing beats simple portion control, eating home-cooked meals, and walking every morning. You don't need to hunt for complicated foods like natto to stay fit.

My teenage daughter was reading about Japanese diets for fitness and wanted to try natto. It is healthy, but honestly, the taste is very difficult for Indian palates to accept. We found that simple sprouted moong salad and curd gave her the same protein benefits without any fuss.

When I consulted the chief dietician at H.N. Reliance Hospital for my weight loss plan, she suggested focusing on local high-protein options first. She said while imported foods like natto are nutritious, you must ask your doctor clearly if it suits your thyroid or thyroid medication before starting.

For managing weight with diabetes, natto is actually quite good because it has a very low glycemic index and won't spike your sugar levels. But please make sure you check your kidney function and uric acid levels, as high-protein soy diets can sometimes affect them if you have pre-existing issues.
