Is naltrexone used for weight loss?

My doctor mentioned this medicine, naltrexone, might help with my weight. Is it actually used for weight loss, or is there some other main use? I'm trying to understand all my options.

I read that Naltrexone is prescribed for weight loss when combined with another drug. Has anyone here actually tried this combination? I am really anxious about the side effects like nausea, please let me know your experience.

Oh, using Naltrexone for weight loss sounds a bit scary because it is usually for alcohol addiction. I get so anxious about taking heavy pills for weight control. Please make sure you talk to a proper specialist before trying it, safety is everything!

Yes, it is sometimes used off-label or combined with Bupropion for managing weight loss under medical supervision.

Naltrexone is indeed used for weight loss, specifically when combined with Bupropion under the brand name Contrave. My doctor explained that it works by targeting the hunger centers in the brain to reduce cravings, but it requires a strict prescription.

Yes, it is used in certain obesity treatments to help manage cravings. However, remember that no pill can replace a calorie deficit. You still need to track your daily food intake and stay active to see real results.

Please be very careful. A friend of mine tried a weight loss pill containing Naltrexone and had severe heart palpitations and liver enzyme issues. Never take these pills without a complete doctor's checkup and prescription.

I tried so many home remedies like methi water and green tea for weight loss, but nothing worked easily. My doctor mentioned these medical options like Naltrexone, but said they are only for extreme cases. For most of us, healthy eating is much safer.
