Is metronidazole safe in pregnancy 2nd trimester?
Someone told me metronidazole might be an issue during pregnancy. I'm in my second trimester and my doctor prescribed it for an infection. Should I be concerned?

Haan beti, 2nd trimester mein thoda kam dar rehta hai medicines ka, but phir bhi, apne mann se kuch mat lena. Meri ek padosan ko bhi doctor ne Metronidazole diya tha uske 2nd trimester mein infection ke liye. Unke baby ko kuch nahi hua. Lekin tum apne doctor se pakka poochho.
I literally just finished my Metronidazole course in my 2nd trimester for a bacterial infection! My OB-GYN assured me it's considered safe during this period when the benefits outweigh the risks. I was worried too, but it cleared up the infection, and baby's doing great so far. Still, follow *your* doctor's advice to the letter.
Having experienced complications, I'm extremely cautious about anything in pregnancy. Metronidazole is often prescribed in the 2nd trimester for infections, and studies generally show it's safer then. BUT, it's not a universal green light. Please, talk to your specific gynaecologist about your infection and their recommendation. Don't risk it without their explicit guidance.
Even though I prefer natural ways, some infections during pregnancy absolutely require medication. For Metronidazole in the 2nd trimester, it's generally considered safe by many doctors for specific conditions. However, your gynaecologist is the best person to decide if and how you should take it. Don't delay seeing them.
Yeah, my cousin's wife took Metronidazole during her second trimester for some infection. Doc said it was fine, just to finish the course. So it seems like it's okay for that period if the doctor prescribes it. But you gotta ask your own doc, obviously.

I can only share what I've seen. My sister was prescribed Metronidazole in her 2nd trimester for an infection, and her doctor was very confident about its safety during that period. She followed the course and had no issues. But again, it's her experience, not medical advice for you.
