Is lube safe during pregnancy?

My husband and I are expecting our first baby, and my doctor advised us to be careful with everything. We were wondering if using personal lubricant is safe for intimacy during pregnancy, or if there's any risk involved.

Yes, my wife and I just went through this. Our doctor told us to avoid anything with artificial fragrances, parabens, or warming chemicals. We switched to a simple water-based, organic lubricant and had no issues at all.

According to our gynaecologist, water-based, pH-balanced lubricants are perfectly safe. She strictly warned us against oil-based or flavored ones as they can alter vaginal flora and cause yeast infections, which are risky during pregnancy.

I was so paranoid about using anything chemical during my pregnancy. I researched for hours and asked my doctor twice! She reassured me that water-based, chemical-free ones are completely safe, so you don't need to worry.

Don't just buy any random brand online because someone recommended it on a forum. Brands change their ingredients all the time. Bring the bottle or name to your next doctor visit and get it verified.

Honestly, between the late-night cravings and zero sleep, this was the last thing on my mind! But yes, water-based ones are generally fine. Just read the ingredients list carefully before buying.

Yes, water-based lubes are safe. Avoid silicone-based ones or anything with glycol because they can cause irritation. Look for basic, hypoallergenic options at your local chemist and you will be good to go.
