Is light cramping normal in early pregnancy?

Hi, I just found out I'm pregnant, barely a few weeks along. I'm feeling some very mild cramping, almost like period pain but much lighter. Is this normal in early pregnancy or should I be worried?

My wife's doctor explained that light cramping is very common as the uterus expands and hormonal levels shift. He specifically mentioned that unless the pain is severe, one-sided, or accompanied by heavy bleeding, it is usually nothing to worry about. But any severe pain needs immediate medical checkup.

While medical literature suggests that mild cramping is standard due to uterine expansion, it is always safest to verify with your doctor. If the pain is manageable, write it down and ask your doctor during your next visit, but seek immediate help if the cramps become intense or are accompanied by spotting.

Mild cramping is quite normal as the body adjusts, so don't rush for expensive emergency scans immediately unless the pain is severe. Keep a simple track of the pain, rest as much as you can, and discuss it during your next regular clinic appointment to save on unnecessary costs.

Yes, mild stretching cramps are super common in the early weeks! Your body is just making room for the little one. Take some rest and drink lots of water, you will be totally fine.

I am in my fifth week and feeling these mild, period-like cramps on and off. Did anyone else experience this so early? It is making me a bit nervous, even though my mother says it is just the baby settling in.
