Is lexapro safe during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and have been taking Lexapro for a while now for my anxiety. My gynecologist said it should be fine, but I'm still feeling a bit anxious about continuing it during pregnancy. Is it truly safe?

See, sometimes maternal mental health is just as important as physical health during pregnancy. You need to weigh the pros and cons with your doctor. They can adjust the dosage to the lowest effective level to keep you both safe.

I agree with the advice to consult your doctor. Many gynecologists and psychiatrists work together to safely manage this during pregnancy.

Look, don't take any mental health medicine during pregnancy without asking your doctor first. Yes, many women take it safely, but only your doctor can decide if you actually need to continue or change the dose.

Haan na, taking medicines in pregnancy is always scary. But sometimes we have to trust the doctors because they know what is safe for the baby. Don't worry too much, just talk to your doctor.

I am also in my first trimester and was wondering about this. Does anyone here know if we have to slowly taper off the dose before delivery, or can we continue it normally? I'm a bit hesitant to ask my doctor directly.

Actually, it depends on how much you need it, yaar. Many doctors keep patients on it because leaving anxiety untreated during pregnancy is also not good. Better to clear it with your gynaec.

Medical consensus shows Lexapro is relatively safe, but it always comes down to a risk-benefit analysis for your specific case. Please have a joint discussion with your psychiatrist and obstetrician to plan this safely.
