Is lactic acid safe during pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester and have started using some new skincare products. One of them contains lactic acid. Just wanted to check if lactic acid is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy, or if I should stop using it.

During pregnancy, it is important to keep your stress low and monitor your health indicators like blood pressure. For skin concerns, lactic acid is safe as it doesn't enter the bloodstream like oral medicines do. Just keep your skincare routine simple and focus on regular prenatal checkups.

Haan beta, lactic acid in skincare is generally considered quite safe when you are expecting. It is very mild compared to other heavy chemicals. Just use it in low percentages and don't worry too much, everything will be fine.

As someone who had PCOS and skin issues, I had to be very careful with skincare products. Lactic acid is an AHA and is typically deemed safe during pregnancy, but our skin can get extra sensitive now. I'd suggest doing a patch test first and choosing gentle, fragrance-free options.

My mother advised me to use only sandalwood paste, but my dermatologist confirmed that mild lactic acid is perfectly safe to use during pregnancy. It is much gentler than salicylic acid. Still, it is always a good practice to show the product to your doctor during your visit.

Yes, lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid that is considered safe for topical use during pregnancy because of its low absorption rate. Just avoid any high-strength clinic peels. Stick to basic over-the-counter serums under 10% and you are good to go.

If you are hesitant about chemical peels, simple home remedies like curd or buttermilk contain natural lactic acid and work wonderfully. They are 100% safe and very cooling for the face during pregnancy. But if you are using store-bought serums, just check the active percentage first.

I used a 5% lactic acid serum throughout my pregnancy because my dermatologist said it doesn't penetrate deep enough to affect the baby. It really helped with my pregnancy melasma. Just make sure you apply a good sunscreen during the day as lactic acid makes your skin more sun-sensitive.

Lactic acid is quite mild ho na, so you don't need to panic at all. It is actually one of the safest options for pregnancy glow when you cannot use retinoids. Just stick to basic brands and don't experiment with heavy peels right now.
