Is l theanine safe for pregnancy?

My anxiety has been a bit high lately, and I was considering L-theanine. My husband and I are also planning a family soon. Is L-theanine safe for pregnancy, or should I avoid it while trying to conceive?

When you are pregnant, your hormones are already doing a crazy dance and you have to get regular blood tests anyway. I wouldn't mess with L-theanine because it can affect your thyroid or other levels unpredictably. Better to show the bottle to your specialist first.

My doctor flatly refused to let me take L-theanine when I asked during my pregnancy last year. She said we just don't have enough safety trials on pregnant ladies to take that risk. I switched to safe prenatal yoga and light walks instead, which actually helped my sleep a lot.

Having dealt with hormonal imbalances like PCOS, I know how tempting it is to try supplements for stress. But pregnancy is a whole different ball game where everything goes directly to the baby. I'd highly recommend staying away from L-theanine unless a doctor tells you it is absolutely okay.

I know how exhausting the anxiety and sleeplessness during pregnancy can get, it really tests your mental health. But please don't take L-theanine out of desperation. Speak to your doctor about safe ways to handle the stress so you can feel better without worrying about the baby's safety.

Actually, there is no solid clinical evidence proving L-theanine is 100% safe for pregnant women. As a rule of thumb in pharmacy, if it's not absolutely necessary, we don't recommend it during pregnancy. It is always safer to talk to your OB-GYN before popping any new pill.

Listen, don't worry or stress about finding magic pills to calm down right now. Pregnancy is a sensitive phase, so let's keep it simple and safe. Avoid the L-theanine capsules completely and just focus on resting well and eating healthy ghar ka khana.
