Is kombucha safe for pregnancy?

A lot of my friends swear by kombucha for energy. I'm trying to conceive and want to be careful about everything I consume. Just checking, is it actually safe for pregnancy?

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It is generally recommended to avoid kombucha right now because it's fermented and unpasteurized. Better to stick to safe drinks like coconut water or fresh juices for now.

I would be very anxious about drinking anything with trace alcohol or live bacteria during these nine months. Even if a bottle says organic, we don't know how it was stored during transport. For peace of mind, please avoid it and check with your gynaecologist.

Most doctors advise against it because it's unpasteurized and might contain trace alcohol. Best to skip it during pregnancy.

Hey, don't stress too much about all these rules, but definitely skip the kombucha for now, sweetie. It's just a few months, then you can drink all the fermented stuff you want. For now, treat yourself to a nice, cold mocktail or thick mango shake!

As a nurse, I advise my pregnant patients to avoid unpasteurized drinks. Kombucha contains live cultures and small amounts of caffeine and alcohol from natural fermentation. It is always safer to drink clean, pasteurized dairy or boiled water during this time.

Because of my PCOS, I had to plan my pregnancy very carefully and was always hesitant about raw fermented foods. Since kombucha can have active yeast strains that affect stomach flora, I chose to avoid it entirely. I highly recommend discussing it with your doctor first.

I totally get the craving for something fizzy and tangy when you are expecting. But since kombucha is raw and can have wild bacteria, it's not the safest bet. I satisfied my sour cravings with jaljeera and fresh lime soda instead, which is totally safe!

I was researching this for my sister recently! Since kombucha is made with black or green tea, it also has caffeine which you need to limit during pregnancy. It's much easier and safer to just stick to regular warm ginger tea or coconut water.

In our days, we only drank coconut water and buttermilk during pregnancy and our kids turned out fine. Now there are fifty new fancy drinks in the market like this kombucha. Just stick to the basics and avoid these complex drinks, it saves both money and health.

I had a few sips of a friend's kombucha yesterday before realizing it might not be safe, and now I am feeling so worried. Has anyone else accidentally drank it during their first trimester? I am definitely going to ask my doctor during my scan tomorrow.
