Is keto diet good for type 2 diabetes?

My Type 2 diabetes is proving difficult to manage with just medication. I've read some articles online about the keto diet reversing diabetes for some people. Is the keto diet truly good for Type 2 diabetes, or is it just hype?

I've heard some people say it helps with blood sugar for Type 2, cuz you cut out a lot of sugar and carbs. But it's super strict, man. My uncle tried it and found it hard to stick to. Definitely not something to just start without talking to a doc first. Diabetes is serious.

My diabetologist has discussed keto for Type 2 diabetes. She said it can be highly effective in improving glycemic control and promoting weight loss, often reducing medication needs. However, it absolutely requires close medical supervision to monitor for electrolyte imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, and potential kidney or liver strain, especially during the initial phase. Self-starting keto for diabetes is not advised.

Look, the internet is full of remedies. Keto is a big trend, but for Type 2 diabetes, you CANNOT trust random advice. Your body is unique, your diabetes is unique. Always verify with your endocrinologist. Don't risk your health with unverified information.

My grandad actually tried keto for his Type 2 diabetes, and his sugar levels definitely came down. But he was under a strict doctor's eye and had a dietician guiding him. It's not something you can just wing, especially with diabetes. Super important to get medical advice.

Type 2 diabetes is no laughing matter, but sometimes these diets sound like a magic potion, right? 😂 Keto *might* help some, but your doctor is like your personal health wizard. Consult them first before trying to conjure up a new eating plan! ✨

Managing Type 2 diabetes, just like high BP, relies heavily on a disciplined lifestyle and regular medical supervision. While a low-carb diet like keto might help manage blood sugar, it's not a universal solution and can have other impacts on health. Please discuss this thoroughly with your doctor and a dietician. Regular check-ups are essential to see if it suits you.

Before you jump into a diet like keto for Type 2 diabetes, get a full blood panel done. It might cost a bit, but it's crucial to know your baseline. Then, if your doctor says it's suitable, you can try to plan meals that are both keto-friendly and budget-friendly. Don't just follow trends blindly, especially with health.
