Is it possible to lose weight during pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester and was a bit overweight to begin with. My doctor said healthy weight gain is important, but I'm wondering if it's possible for some women to actually lose a little weight during pregnancy, especially with morning sickness?

Listen, for most women, gaining weight is a normal and healthy part of pregnancy because your body needs those extra nutrients. If you're losing weight unexpectedly, especially beyond the first trimester, it's really important to check with your doctor. Focus on a balanced diet and keeping yourself and the baby healthy, not on losing weight.

Well, normally you gain weight, but sometimes in the first trimester, due to morning sickness and not being able to eat much, some women do lose a little. But it's not really a goal. Your body is working hard to grow a baby, so nourishment is key. Just talk to your gynaecologist about a healthy diet.

In my first trimester, I actually lost a couple of kilos because of severe morning sickness and food aversions. My doctor assured me it was okay as long as I was hydrating and taking my prenatal vitamins. After that, gradual weight gain started. It's more about healthy eating and light activity, not aiming for weight loss.

Lose weight during pregnancy? Haha, my wife just kept gaining! Especially in the last few months, it felt like she ate for three. But seriously, her doctor said it was normal and healthy for the baby. Maybe some lose a little due to nausea, but mostly it's about gaining, right? And the sleep deprivation starts early!

It's not really about losing weight, but maintaining a healthy weight gain is important. Just like for BP, diet and lifestyle play a big role. If someone has gestational diabetes or is very overweight, sometimes doctors might guide them to manage weight more strictly, but always under strict medical supervision. Regular checkups are a must.

While some women might lose a bit in early pregnancy due to nausea, actively trying to lose weight during pregnancy is generally not advised and can be risky. Don't trust anything you read online about 'pregnancy weight loss' without discussing it with your gynaecologist. They know what's safe for you and the baby, not some random influencer.
