Is erythritol safe during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and really craving something sweet, but I'm trying to avoid regular sugar. My sister suggested using erythritol, as she uses it for her baking. Is erythritol safe during pregnancy for me and the baby?

In our times, we stuck to natural things like small amounts of jaggery or mishri during pregnancy. It is always better to avoid chemical sweeteners when carrying a child. Stick to simple, home-cooked food for the baby's safety.

I go to a top maternity hospital here, and my doctor specifically advised limiting artificial sweeteners during the first trimester. It is best to ask your obstetrician clearly during your next scan visit.

I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy and used erythritol occasionally for baking. It never caused any issues for me or the baby. Just ensure you buy high-quality, pure brands without hidden additives.

While erythritol is safe and doesn't raise blood glucose, pregnancy requires extreme caution. Keep a close eye on your daily sugar readings and consult a dietitian to plan safe meals.

If you have gestational diabetes, erythritol can help satisfy cravings without spiking sugar. But don't make it a daily habit. Swapping it occasionally in tea is a practical and safe approach.

Please be very careful with what you consume right now. I had minor complications in my second trimester, and my doctor advised me to avoid all processed sugar substitutes. Definitely check with your doctor first.
