Is diarrhea a sign of weight loss?

I've been trying to lose weight and someone at the gym told me that loose motions can be a sign that my metabolism is working fast. Is there any truth to this, or is it just a myth?

Normally, no. Losing weight by having diarrhea is not healthy or sustainable. You lose water and nutrients, not actual fat. If you are having chronic diarrhea and losing weight, it's a sign something is wrong, and you should see a doctor.

When the body is healthy and in balance, digestion is regular. Diarrhea indicates an imbalance, not a healthy way to lose weight. True weight loss comes from mindful eating, balanced diet, and gentle movement. Please do not seek weight loss through unhealthy means.

Oh god, I've had phases where I've wished for a quick fix like that, but I know it's not good. If you're having diarrhea often and losing weight, it's definitely a red flag. Please don't connect it to weight loss, but rather to a potential health issue that needs checking. Are you feeling okay otherwise?

Nah man, that's not how healthy weight loss works. If you're losing weight because of constant diarrhea, it means you're probably dehydrated and not absorbing nutrients properly. That's a bad sign, not a good one. You should probably see a doctor if that's happening to you.

Please don't think of diarrhea as a way to lose weight. I once had persistent diarrhea, and I actually lost a lot of weight, but I felt terrible and weak. It turned out to be an infection. If you're having it often, please get it checked by a doctor, it's not a healthy weight loss.
