Is cooked sushi safe during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and craving sushi, but I know raw fish is usually not advised. What about cooked sushi, like California rolls? Is cooked sushi safe to eat during pregnancy, or should I avoid it completely?

Look, if you are really craving it, cooked sushi like vegetarian rolls or cooked tempura is generally safe. Just make sure you are ordering from a very hygienic, high-end restaurant where there is no chance of cross-contamination with raw fish. Or better, just make a simple veg roll at home to be absolutely safe.

During my pregnancy, my thyroid levels were fluctuating so I had to be extremely careful with my diet. While fully cooked sushi is technically okay, I always checked with my doctor first. It is best to discuss any dietary changes during your regular prenatal checkups to ensure everything is on track.

I ate cooked crab and avocado rolls throughout my second trimester without any issues. The main danger is raw fish because of bacteria, but fully cooked fish or vegetarian sushi is fine. Just make sure the restaurant doesn't use the same knife or cutting board for raw and cooked items.

I had a very difficult pregnancy with early bleeding, so my doctor put me on a very strict diet. Even for cooked sushi, my gynecologist advised against it due to the risk of Listeria from cross-contamination in restaurant kitchens. Please ask your doctor before taking even a small risk.

Eating fresh, warm, and Sattvik foods is always best during pregnancy for the baby's peace and health. If you do wish to have sushi, ensure it is fully cooked and prepared fresh. Listen to your body, practice gentle breathing, and avoid cold, raw foods as much as possible.
