Is cod safe during pregnancy?

I'm 4 months pregnant now and trying to eat healthy for the baby. I love fish, but my mother warned me about certain types during pregnancy. Is cod safe to eat during pregnancy?

Hey dear, don't stress too much! Cod is actually one of the safest fish during pregnancy because it is very low in mercury. Just make sure it is cooked thoroughly and enjoy your meal. You are doing amazing, just relax!

In our family, elders always say to avoid certain fish during these months as they cause body heat. However, my doctor explained that cod is a very safe, low-mercury option that provides good protein. I trusted her advice and ate it occasionally, fully cooked, without any issues.

I am in my second trimester and even the thought of eating fish makes me so nervous about mercury levels. Did anyone else feel this anxious before eating seafood? My doctor said well-cooked cod is fine, but I still feel scared to try it.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to eat anything during pregnancy, as we keep worrying about the baby's safety. It is totally normal to feel this way. Cod is generally very safe, but if it makes you anxious, you can always stick to other protein sources till you feel ready.

During my pregnancy, I found that eating light, steamed fish like cod kept my body feeling energized and light. It is easy on the digestive fire compared to heavy meats. Pair it with gentle deep breathing to keep your mind calm and happy.

My wife ate well-cooked cod during her pregnancy and both she and our baby are perfectly fine. Though right now, the baby is keeping us awake 22 hours a day, so I can't guarantee you'll get any sleep after they are born! Just make sure the fish is not raw.

According to FDA guidelines, cod is categorized as a 'best choice' fish for pregnant women because of its low mercury content. My gynecologist recommended having it up to twice a week, but emphasized it must be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F to eliminate any risk of listeria.

During pregnancy, we must be very careful with cold-water fish as they might not suit everyone's digestion. Always cook it with a bit of ginger and garlic to help with gas and digestion. Ask your doctor once before eating anything new.
