Is cardio or weight training better for weight loss?

My sister lost a lot of weight doing only weight training, but my doctor suggested I include cardio. Which one is actually more effective for losing those extra kgs?

Weight training is great because it builds muscle which burns fat, but honestly, both of them make me crave hot samosas after the workout! Whichever you choose, the real battle is in the kitchen. Make sure to keep healthy snacks ready so you don't overeat.

Take it easy and don't rush. Both have their place: cardio is great for your heart, while weight training keeps your bones and muscles strong as you age. Start with moderate walking, and slowly add light weights. Your safety and health are what matter most.

For busy professionals, weight training is actually more efficient because it raises your resting metabolic rate. You don't need to spend hours on a treadmill. Do 3 short weight sessions a week and keep active throughout the day, that's enough.

Agree with doing both. A balanced routine with proper diet works much better than doing only one thing.

From a practical health perspective, a combination is best. Cardio keeps your blood circulation and lungs healthy, while weights prevent muscle loss. Just make sure to stretch properly before and after to avoid any muscle tears or pain.
