Is cardio or lifting better for weight loss?

My friends are all into different types of workouts. Some swear by cardio for weight loss, while others say lifting is better for building muscle and burning fat. Which one should I focus on for effective weight loss?

I totally get it, trying to choose the right workout can feel so confusing with all the conflicting advice online. Cardio is great for stamina, but lifting weights helps tone the body. Just do what makes you feel good and happy, rather than forcing yourself into a routine you hate.

Please don't follow generic fitness advice from random internet influencers. What works for someone else's joints might injure yours, especially with heavy weight lifting. Go see a qualified trainer or a physiotherapist who can assess your posture and suggest what's safe for you.

Keep it simple. Cardio burns fat fast, but lifting prevents you from looking weak and helps maintain muscle. If you ask me, do a mix of both. And most importantly, stop eating outside food every weekend, otherwise nothing will work.

Lifting weights makes me so hungry, but cardio honestly bores me to tears! For weight loss, whatever you choose, just make sure you don't reward yourself with a massive cheese dosa afterwards like I always do. Portion control is the real game here.

I lost 15 kgs over two years and I'll tell you the truth: a combination is king. Cardio burns calories immediately, but lifting keeps your metabolism high even when you're resting. Start lifting light weights twice a week and do walking on other days. Track your protein too.

Don't stress yourself trying to choose one over the other right now. If you are just starting, simply begin with regular brisk walks. Once your stamina improves, you can slowly introduce light weight training. Take it step-by-step and look after your joints.

I used to do only cardio and felt exhausted all the time. When I started lifting light weights, my body actually started looking toned and I felt much stronger. Don't be scared of weights, girls, we won't get bulky! A nice balance of both works wonders.

Both have their benefits, but we must also look at internal health. While lifting and cardio help burn energy, adding light yoga and deep breathing helps reduce stress, which is a major cause of weight gain. Let your body heal naturally without excessive strain.
