Is breaking out a sign of early pregnancy?

My period is a bit late, and I've noticed a few pimples suddenly, which is unusual for me. Someone told me breaking out could be an early sign of pregnancy. Is this true?

Acne and breakouts are quite common due to the sudden surge in progesterone hormones during early pregnancy. However, hormonal fluctuations before your period also cause the exact same breakouts, so a simple urine test is the only way to be sure.

Hormonal breakouts can happen due to many reasons, including thyroid fluctuations or pregnancy. I highly recommend visiting your gynaecologist and getting your thyroid levels checked to rule out any underlying issues.

Yes, skin flare-ups can definitely be a secondary symptom of early pregnancy due to rising hormone levels. However, since it can also point to regular PMS or stress, consulting your gynecologist and doing a home pregnancy test is the best way forward.

Whether it is pregnancy or just a regular period, what you eat affects breakouts a lot. Stick to cooling foods like coconut water and cucumber, and avoid heavy fried stuff till you get clarity from your doctor.

For women with insulin resistance or diabetes, hormonal shifts during early pregnancy can cause bad breakouts. Make sure you don't self-medicate with acne creams without checking with your doctor first, as some ingredients are unsafe during pregnancy.
