Is bha safe during pregnancy?

I have some uneven skin texture and was using products with BHA before I found out I was pregnant. Now I'm unsure. Is BHA safe to continue using during pregnancy?

Hey there! 😊 So BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) is generally advised to be avoided during pregnancy. It's often found in skincare for exfoliation. It's best to stick to gentler things like AHA (Glycolic or Lactic Acid) or even better, consult your gynaecologist or dermatologist! Stay glowing safely! ✨

Not pregnant myself, but my sister was super careful. Her gynae specifically told her to stop using any products with BHA during her pregnancy. So yeah, I'd say better to avoid and ask your doctor.

Oh my god, I had the same question when I was pregnant! Skincare is so confusing then. I remember my doctor telling me to completely avoid BHA, like salicylic acid, just to be safe. Did anyone else feel that overwhelming anxiety about every single product?

I can only share what my doctor advised during my pregnancy. She told me to definitely skip BHA-containing products. So I switched to very basic, gentle cleansers and moisturisers. For specific advice, your own doctor is the best person to ask.

Just like how I regularly consult my doctor for my thyroid levels, I'd strongly suggest consulting your gynaecologist regarding BHA during pregnancy. Many skincare experts and doctors recommend against it due to potential absorption concerns. It's always better to be safe and get direct medical advice.

During pregnancy, it is important to nourish the body and mind, and also be gentle with what we apply externally. From what I've learned, BHA, especially salicylic acid, is usually recommended to be avoided during this sensitive period. It's always best to consult with a medical professional to ensure safety for both mother and child.
