Is azithromycin safe in pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and recently got an infection that requires antibiotics. My doctor prescribed azithromycin. I'm a bit nervous about taking medications while pregnant. Is azithromycin considered safe in pregnancy?

Yes, it is generally considered safe, but never take it without your gynaecologist's direct prescription.

Ah, pregnancy worries! Yes, my wife was given this once and everything was fine. Just don't play doctor yourself; let the actual expert prescribe the right dose.

Hi! Yes, it's one of the safer antibiotics doctors use during pregnancy. Just make sure to tell your OB-GYN about any other symptoms you have before starting the dose.

My sister had a bad throat infection during her pregnancy and her doc prescribed this. She was totally fine. Definitely call your doc first though, don't just pop pills.

In our days, we relied on ginger tea and steam inhalation for mild infections. However, if a bacterial infection is there, doctors do prescribe safe medicines like azithromycin. Please consult your physician and do not self-medicate.

It is generally safe, but if you have gestational diabetes like I did, make sure to ask your doctor if this infection or medication will affect your sugar levels. Always best to be cautious.
